Almost Home – Very Important, Please Read!

There is probably no other time of the year that the spirit of giving is more apparent than the month of December. In fact, over 30% of our country’s annual giving occurs in December. This makes a lot of sense because the meaning of Christmas for many people is often associated with the giving and receiving of gifts, especially giving to those in need. 2015 was America’s most generous year ever, with donations reaching an estimated 373 billion. There are many wonderful causes to support, and I hope you and your family have found one this month. It is important to model generous giving.

For my family, we can think of nothing more important than helping our veterans who are in need. If you have kept up with my weekly blog, you know I typically write a lot about how to strengthen your relationship with your spouse. If you do not mind, at least for this week, I felt it was too important not to bring to your attention an opportunity to help make a difference in the lives of homeless veterans. Please take a moment to learn how you can help and see what you will be able to wear around.

Did you realize that 25% of our nation’s homeless are Veterans? On any given night, 62,000 veterans are wandering our U.S. streets looking for help. If you live in an area who is experiencing some brutally cold weather right now, can you imagine being homeless? Our Veterans deserve better! So I decided to do something about it. I created a simple yet powerful way you and your family can help this Christmas. All you have to do is purchase a Live A Life Worth Living t-shirt (short- and long-sleeve available in various colors), and in return, the money you spent to purchase the shirts is donated by my organization, Centurion’s Watch, to help veterans get the resources and training they need to get back on their feet. Pretty cool, right?

Below is a picture of what the front and back of your shirt will look like. After the fundraising period ends on December 31, 2016, your shirts go into production and then shipped to you. You will feel inspired wearing it around.

You have probably heard many times, “it is better to give than receive.” This is not always an easy principle to follow, especially around Christmas with so much emphasis on what you hope to receive. The giving and receiving of gifts is not a bad thing, but I believe you will receive far more joy and satisfaction when you are focused on making a difference in someone’s life, especially someone in need. So this Christmas, I hope you and your family will have a cause to rally behind. For me and my family, we will be helping homeless veterans. Click on the link below to learn how you can also help.
