Unique Valentine’s Day Ideas

Are you familiar with the saying, “practice what you preach”?  Basically it goes like this—if I am going to recommend something to you I should also be prepared to do it myself.  So here I am a week out from Valentine’s Day and I am still not sure what we are going to do.  So I decided to come up with a few unique ideas that I hope will surprise your sweetheart (and mine) with something a little different this year. Instead of the typical dinner date (which is usually crazy busy anyway), why not try adding in a few surprises.

So go ahead and check out these unique Valentine’s Day date ideas and enjoy a night you won’t soon forget. Remember, it’s about connecting with your partner, and sometimes the best way to do that is by trying something new together.

Go for Cocktails

Whether you start out the night with cocktails or end your date with one, this is a can’t-miss date idea for you and your sweetheart. Try a new place you haven’t been to like a themed cocktail bar or restaurant that has a special V-Day line up. If your not drinkers, substitute a cocktail for a favorite dessert.  Either way it’s a great opportunity to have some quiet conversation together and enjoy each other’s company without the craziness of your more popular restaurants.

Get Retro

For this date idea, it’s all about having fun and feeling like kids again. Enjoy a few hours at the arcade and enjoy a kid-free evening of games and a little friendly competition. If you don’t want to go to a traditional arcade, try one of the over 21 places that are filled with games and other activities—minus having to navigate around smaller kids vying for the same games.

This date idea can be fun whether you two are typically gamers or not because it’s all about having fun, relaxing, and doing something you two don’t normally choose to do.

Get Creative with Canvas

Many of you may be saying, “No, way. I have no creative bone in my body. Not gonna happen.” But hear me out. Getting creative on canvas can be a fun date whether or not you are artsy. Have a creative adventure and see what happens. You never know if you have a little Monet in you that you never discovered.

You two can make a date for a guided evening at your local art studio, or you can buy a fairly inexpensive paint set and create a little art studio in the privacy of your own home. Not sure what to paint? Give an idea to your partner and see if they can come up with something creative. You can also find many YouTube videos with step-by-step instructions or stream an old Bob Ross episode on Netflix and follow along. Let loose, have fun, and enjoy a unique date night you won’t forget!

I would love to hear what unique Valentine’s date idea you chose, whether one of mine or something else. Please share in the comments below!
