A Special Christmas Message

Sometimes it takes getting a dose of your “own medicine” to finally get the message. For the past few weeks, I have been operating with a flurry of activity. I had so much to do to get my life in order (or so I thought) before Christmas, that my goal was that when the big day finally arrived; I could finally take a deep breath and actually be in the moment. I find it interesting that here I was, encouraging you for the past few weeks on how you can get the most out of your holidays, and yet I was not really following my own advice. Well as fate would have it (or divine providence) I have been hit with a severe cold and sore throat. I probably have not been sick like this in over 10 years. This is highly unusual for me. For the past few days I have felt miserable and really have not felt like doing much, except sleep and take high concentrations of vitamin C. But here is the funny thing: despite feeling awful and napping at the drop of a hat, I am actually enjoying the last few days leading up to Christmas more than I have in years past. Why is that?

Well, it is because I was forced to take a step back, lessen my load, and take inventory on what really makes Christmas so special. I was reminded that it is not about having the best decorations in place, making sure we have purchased the perfect amount of gifts or making sure every tradition is followed perfectly. No, Christmas for me is about spending time with the people who matter most and sharing in the majesty of a loving God who came to earth to show us a better way.

So from all of us here at Centurion’s Watch, we wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
